Twice a year I sit down and ask myself “Am I going in the direction of my dreams, or am I allowing God to lead me in the direction of HIS?”  I normally ask myself this question at the beginning of the year (while writing out my goals), and during the halfway mark (to make sure that I am still taking the correct course of action.) This past Saturday, I was sitting on the train heading to the city to meet up with my girls for our weekly cell group meeting (bible study.) I was preparing for the meeting and looking over past notes and bible scriptures to make sure my lesson was ready. While doing so an older woman sitting next to me noticed that I was reading the bible and tapped me on the shoulder. She apologized and admitted that she had been ease-dropping on my studies but wanted to let me know that she loved seeing young people reading the Bible. She went on to tell me that she had been reading her Bible earlier and that she felt that what she read needed to be shared with me. She began to recite Proverbs 3:5 and said that she felt that I specifically needed to hear that scripture for something that I needed in my life. A few seconds later the train stopped at Marcy Avenue, she told me goodbye and exited the train. It wasn’t until later that day that I would understand why I needed this message and how it would help so many others.

When I arrived in the city to teach my lesson, I had a vision.  It basically showed me that this year so many people (myself included!) are being stretched and taken to higher levels. Through this stretching period God is asking more of us to do things that we normally wouldn’t do. Instead of giving up because we think we are not capable, or that it is too overwhelming, He’s asking us to trust him and that through him it is possible. He doesn’t want us to lean unto our own understanding, but to instead push past our doubts and fears and follow the direction HE is leading in our lives! 🙂

The characteristics of a child are simple: eager & curious, absorbs information like a sponge, mimic the actions of others, naturally inviting & loving (regardless of race or sex), and FEARLESS! As an aunt (or parent) sometimes these characteristics can be a blessing and not so much, but in your relationship with God they are a blessing! If we take these traits and apply them to the way we learn from God and how to love others, we would find ourselves in a deeper relationship with God, and much higher level in our passion.

Having childlike faith or a child’s characteristics is not something that can happen overnight. It takes patience and perseverance! HOWEVER, when your efforts turn into a habit you will be used by God like never before AND doors will open in your life that no man can close! 🙂

In forming these groups, we are creating a breeding ground for miracles, signs and wonders to happen not only in our lives, but the lives of those that we connect with and touch. This power (given through God) can be used to change situations, overturn decision that seem unchangeable, and change the situations going on in this world through unity of prayer and action.

We are all “Rocks” that come together with a purpose and message of love. If two rocks coming together can cause a spark, imagine what will happen if 12 rocks come together? Answer: Start a wildfire of love, signs and wonders that spreads all around the world! 🙂

Do you live in the NYC area? Are you looking for a church to call your home? Come check out the Rock Church Manhattan! (therockchurches.com) It is a non-denominational church based on the performing arts and filled with creatives and artist alike! Come join a cell group and be apart of the change that this world needs and desires! 🙂  If you do not live in the NYC (or even the United States), that’s okay! LEVELS http://chrissyjoystyle.com/levels/ Mon, 21 Aug 2017 19:45:00 +0000 http://chrissyjoystyle.com/?p=3459 For the past week and half, I have been waking up at 5am to spend time with God. I did not plan that hour of the morning but I kept waking up early and not able to go back to sleep. It wasn’t until the second day that I asked God “Why can’t I sleep?!”, to which he replied ” I just want to spend time with you during this hour.” It was a bit of a challenge waking up that early in the mornings, but what caught my attention about God’s request was that He specifically asked me to go to my rooftop during my time with him. I’ve chosen my rooftop as a place to spend time with God in the past and on occasion, I would wake up around 6:15am to watch the sunrise while reading my bible. However, it wasn’t a daily habit, it was only done during the sunrise time, never before and rarely after. For the past week and half, I have been waking up at 5am to spend time with God.

On the third morning of waking up at 5am I noticed that it was very dark outside so I told God that I would spend time with him in my room rather than the rooftop. I complained that it was too dark outside and there was no way that I could see to read my Bible.  I also said that it was a little too chilly outside for my liking. Once I went to my room and opened my bible to continue my reading, I turned to 1 Samuel 9:22; within the first four verses I found myself at a lost for words. In the scripture it states that before Saul became king he was asked to go to a higher level with Samuel to have dinner. Once there, Samuel gave Saul a meal that had been specifically set apart for him, it could not be eaten by anyone else and could only be brought out by the cooks once Saul arrived to the table.

It was at that moment I realized why God had asked me to go to the rooftop. It wasn’t so I would be cold or struggle to read my Bible while I was there. It was because He was trying to give me something that couldn’t be given at my current level. I needed to go higher (both spiritually and physically)  in order to receive it.

What breakthrough have you been believing God for? What promise has God given you that you have yet to see come to pass? Many of things that we are praying for have already been set aside specifically for us, God is just asking us to go higher in Him in order to receive it.

In a effort to help you (myself included) go higher in God, I have started the #GOHIGHERCHALLENGE! This challenge is a 21-day mission that starts today, Monday August 21st (sorry for the late notice!) and ends Sunday, September 10th! You are free to join at any time. During this challenge you will wake up at 5am daily (or whatever time during the morning that is a sacrifice to you) and read your bible, pray, and meditate on how to apply what you read to your life. I am providing morning wake up calls at 5am via Instagram Live. We will have a morning prayer and I will give everyone a scripture for the day to study during your time with God (if you need direction on where to start!)! So if you are not currently following me then head to @chrissyjoystyle now! If  you miss the 5am wake-up call at any time during the challenge, I will post the video recording from the call on my Facebook Fan Page: Chrissy Joy Style for you to see and reference at anytime! Feel free to email me anytime ChrissyJoyStyle@gmail.com during the challenge for questions, encouragements, or suggestions! LETS GO HIGHER TOGETHER ! 🙂

Attention Seeker http://chrissyjoystyle.com/attention-seeker/ Mon, 07 Aug 2017 22:02:11 +0000 http://chrissyjoystyle.com/?p=3445 Hey Lovies! In life there are so many ways to show someone that you care about them and even more strategies used to get their attention! It’s amazing the amount of money, time and effort some people will put into looking good, driving a nice car, or having the best of everything in order to be viewed a particular way by someone they find attractive. Lately I’ve been taking a different approach to showing I care and in a more in-depth way. For the past week I have been studying the things that gets God’s attention. I did this because I realized that a relationship with God is similar to a relationship between a husband and wife! When you’re married (or even in a relationship) you learn the things that makes your spouse happy, and purpose to do those things on a regular basis (happy wife, happy life!) Communication with your mate is important so that you’re aware of the things that upsets one another. You also can come to a mutual understanding of how to overcome many issues. Communication with your mate is important so that you’re aware of the things that upsets one another. You also can come to a mutual understanding of how to overcome many issues.

God does the same thing with us! He wants to make sure that our relationship with him is strong, healthy and on one accord. He accomplishes this by communicating with us when we spend time with him and even throughout our day (when we listen). Often times He gives us an intuitive feeling, followed with a sign of confirmation or a personal conversation when He’s disappointed by something we’ve said or done. We should want our relationship with him to be comparable to a “power couple”. A bond that is in-sync, uplifting, empowering, and most importantly ….unstoppable!

I DARE you to find what you can do to in your own personal life to get God’s attention and grow your relationship with him. It’s safe to say that we all want a “power couple” status somewhere in our lives, so why not start with God! 🙂

True Love http://chrissyjoystyle.com/truelove/ Wed, 19 Jul 2017 22:23:33 +0000 http://chrissyjoystyle.com/?p=3421 Compassion (noun): Concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. In a world that has a mentality that focuses on one self with little regard to others and their needs, it is easy to find yourself becoming numb to the cares of this world. I have always considered myself a people person! I usually can connect well with others, and I love meeting new people. However, I’ve come to realize that although I have bonded easily with others in the past, I have not always shown love to others. For the past few days I have been learning more about true love. It is selfless, kind, long-suffering, and does not envy. It puts the needs of others before itself and rejoices in the joy of others. I can best describe it as a father/child relationship in which the father wants the absolute best for their child and is happy to see them grow up and become all they have been destined to become. Compassion (noun): Concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others.

In a world that has a mentality that focuses on one self with little regard to others and their needs, it is easy to find yourself becoming numb to the cares of this world. I have always considered myself a people person! I usually can connect well with others, and I love meeting new people. This is the type of love that I’m working towards having for others. Whether they’re related to me or know me personally, I’ve noticed that when I put the needs of others before my own and show them love (even when I don’t feel like it) it brings me joy. It may not always be immediate joy, but later down the line when I see that person thriving and becoming the best version of themselves and spreading that same love that I gave them to others, it brings me joy!

You may not always understand why God ask you to go above and beyond in loving the seemingly un-loveable person, or why He requires you to place the needs of someone else before your own (even when your issues are larger than theirs.). However, through my past experience in doing just this I have found that all of my issues have been solved through helping others. It’s something about dying to your flesh and helping to be the light in someone else’s life that brings about a change and allows God to move in our lives in miraculous ways. Try it!

Take this next week to focus your efforts on showing love to someone that you don’t know! Befriend that quiet co-worker who’s always by him/herself and show them the love of Christ! You’ll be surprised to find that pure happiness will make its way into your life through your efforts of true love! 🙂

Hey Lovies!

I am officially 27 years old! Today is my birthday and I am so excited to embark on a new year of endless possibilities and ventures! When I first thought about my birthday and the idea of turning 27 I figured that it was no big deal!  In my mind it was another year that should not be given as much celebration because it wasn’t anything spectacular. Year 16, 21 and 25 were my designated glory years that I decided to go all out on celebrating, but no other year would receive as much recognition…..or so I thought.

For the past week I have been fasting and decided to take some time away from social media, television, and many other things that I give a lot of attention to on a daily basis. During the week, I replaced that time with more God-time. This included reading my bible, prayer, meditation, and listening to worship music. It was a time to deepen my relationship with Christ and understand what He wants for me in this new year of life that I’m preparing to enter. It was challenging at times, because after a long day of work I really wanted to go home, curl up on the couch and watch a movie or an old episode of “Forensic Files” on YouTube (my fav!). However, while pushing past my television cravings I realized that my mindset changed a lot during the week! The areas of my life and ministry that seemed to be difficult to accomplish suddenly became easier to complete. The views I had of certain people and the situations I encountered became different and more compassionate as well!

Overall, I feel as though I see things with a new level of gratitude and appreciation! Nothing is too small or too trivial for a “Thank You Jesus” moment. Whether it’s getting a free meal at work or celebrating my 27th year of life. Every day that I wake up with breath in my lungs and good health is a reason to celebrate!

So today is a ULTRA celebration of happiness, thanksgiving and gratefulness to God for allowing me to see another year. I can’t wait to share another year of style and faith with you all through this platform, so stay tuned because this year will be the BEST YET!! 🙂

The first day we learned about Jesus and the cross, including what each nail that he took meant for our healing both physically and spiritually. Hey Lovies,

This past weekend has been one of the most amazing and inspiring weekends for me in a LONG TIME! There were so many small and large details that contributed to its overall success that I naturally had to share it with ya’ll to give you the same encouragement that it gave me! 🙂

It started with a bi-annual three-day retreat that my church (The Rock Churches) puts together every year called “The Encounter.” In summary, it is a retreat in which men and women come together to have a experience with God, address and conquer past issues/pain, and grow a closer relationship with Him. I have been going to this retreat for about four years, however this year was VERY different. The first day we learned about Jesus and the cross, including what each nail that he took meant for our healing both physically and spiritually. The second day, we learned about self-esteem (viewing yourself the way God views you), conquering forgiveness and overcoming spiritual attacks. Both of these days were equally amazing and gave me with so much guidance! However, the third day was what brought it all home and put the icing on the cake! I was able to witness one of my sisters (in Christ), Martina Calcagno, get ordained as a pastor and given leadership over our European church locations! 🙂 She moved to New York for dance and started coming to our church about three years ago. After attending the church for about six months she was determined to start/open a location in her home country of Italy! Not only did she start a church, she opened THREE LOCATIONS in Italy (all three are growing and flourishing daily!)

Martina is a young woman in her mid-twenties who’s a part of a traveling ballet dance company. She made time in her busy schedule to teach weekly bible studies to her family, and because of the continual growth the bible study became a church service. She eventually returned to her country to lead the service as she continued to start bible studies in other parts of Italy. They all yielded the same results! Her story and journey to becoming an ordained pastor is one that I have been fortunate to witness up-close and I could not be more inspired and motivated!

This weekend was an awesome lesson that no matter how busy your schedule may seem or how many excuses you may use as to why you aren’t walking in your full potential, YOU CAN DO IT! You don’t need more time, you just need to MAKE the time to do it! There are no acceptable excuses because God is with you and will always guide you into your victory! Our lives and everything that happens within them are not a surprise to God, he knows our capabilities and our weaknesses. If you trust in him he will lead you into a life that you couldn’t have imagined; a life that accomplishes goals, breaks barriers and lifts you to new heights!

Pictured below is Martina Calcagno at the Ordination Ceremony! She is the ray of sunshine sitting down with a huge smile on her face (per usual!)

No Comfort Zone! http://chrissyjoystyle.com/no-comfort-zone/ Tue, 06 Jun 2017 22:09:13 +0000 https://chrissyjoystyle.com/?p=3340 Hey Lovies! We are officially half-way through 2017, and  so far I’m feeling pretty good! Recently, I sat down with a small group of women that I’m close with and chatted about how we felt about our year thus far. We had all written a set of goals (and even made vision boards!) filled with things that we planned to accomplish this year.  We decided to revisit those goals to check in on our progress in order to hold each other accountable. As we all went around in a circle sharing our successes and pitfalls during the first half of the year, I noticed a common word used to describe what we felt was our drawback…COMPLACENCY!! God had blessed each of us in different ways during the year, however; we realized that we had in one way or another become complacent in our blessing.  We knew this because God had given each of us various revelations/signs showing that He had more for us and telling us to keep moving forward and higher.  It was as if we had small pieces of a puzzle, but when we came together and shared our stories our pieces formed a unified picture and message. Hey Lovies!

Complacency is something that many people either do not realize they are dealing with or don’t know how to move forward. It’s easy to get comfortable and relaxed in your current place and/or situation when you know that going to a higher level will require you to become uncomfortable and step out on faith.  I will be the first to admit that I have been there many times, but thankfully God did not allow me to stay in the situation too long. He placed me on a path that I had no choice but to go higher. Even when I wanted to turn back and go back to my comfortable place, it was as though my past had suddenly become a barren desert that was no longer appealing to me. He changed my vision so that I could see my complacency the same way He had viewed it all along, dry and barren with no sign of direction.

As quickly as God blesses you and moves you forward, know that to whom much is given much is required. God is always desiring us to go higher and to new levels in Him. In doing so, He gives us the wisdom, strength and perseverance we need to be properly prepared for our next level of blessing and responsibilities.

2017 is your year of VICTORY!! God will only take you as high as you allow him! Be open and willing to change, advance and move in whichever direction He leads you. Time to say sayonara to complacency! 🙂
